TRASK RAIDER TEAMS finished the '07-'08 year with third and second place finishes at Harnett Central and Raider Guard (Fort Pickett), respectively. Titans trophied in six of nine record events between the two meets but failed to capture any first place finishes. Emphasis now is on replacing "graduated" talent and improving overall fitness levels. On whole, prospects for next year appear to be excellent for continuing the strong Raider Tradition at Trask.

Once again, Titan Raiders went short-handed into competition. This time the first and second most proficient bridge commanders had conflicts leaving that task to the Battalion Commander. While a "quick study," experience is a major componet of success in this event. And then, further complicating the situation, he woke-up early on the day of competition throwing-up! As a result, sophomore Raider, Chris Woodcock, was thrown into the breach. Including day-of-competition practice, Chris had put the rope up exactly three times before the record run, and, notably, he had never taken it down. Given this circumstance, the fact that the Trask team suffered NO penalties in competition was a pleasant surprize/shock. That Chris wrestled with the tear-down procedure for nearly two and half minutes was, in the end, almost comical. Ninth place overall in this event at just over eight minutes was a credit to the "can do" spirit of the commander and the patience of the entire team. As it were, Titan Raiders earned third place finishes in each of the other record events (PT, First Aid/Litter Carry and Forced March) to take third place honors overall in this thirteen team/two state (NC & VA) meet. Good Job, Raiders!

Trask JROTC took the lead in the first annual Topsail Beach Christmas parade this weekend. Several episodes of spontaneous crowd approval. Not everyday someone applaudes you efforts. Titan contingent appreciated the community response.

TITAN RAIDERS TAKE SECOND PLACE at Raider North. Once again, Titan Raider team invaded Virginia expecting to be among the front-runners at ths Richmond Public Schools sponsored competition at Pocahontas State Park, VA. Local team failed to win any of the five sub-events at this meet suffering particular disappointments in the rope bridge (where an anomalous open snap link cost a first place finish) and the 5K forced march (should have turned left, not right!). As it were, Titans where close enough to the top in all five events to carry second place overall; this in a field of 42 teams.
