JROTC Program Established: 2003: one year after school's initial opening.
Heide Trask High School is located about 15 miles north of Wilmington, NC, just off of Interstate I-40 in Pender County. County demographics are sharply divided between the coastal third of the county and the inland two-thirds. Both Army Junior Programs (Trask and Pender) reside in the latter. The economy in this area consists primarily of small industries and farming and is considered underdeveloped. Faculty and staff and the community are highly supportive of the JROTC effort. Trask is an active and competitive Junior program and recently (March of 2009) attained its goal of retaining its status as an Honor Unit with Distinction. Being the "Flagship Program" of what was the "Carolina Brigade" is a continuing goal. Titan JROTC is taught in a 4X4 block schedule format.
